6 reasons why dōTERRA is the perfect choice for our family
From natural solutions and a supportive community, to exciting business opportunities, discover some of the reasons why dōTERRA has made such a difference in our lives.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably juggling a lot. Between my two boys, both autistic and ADHD, and my own journey as someone with ADHD, life can be intense. Managing big emotions, navigating sensory sensitivities, and helping my family co-regulate – it’s a full-time job.
My introduction to dōTERRA came in 2017, completely by chance. One day at the beach, my son cut his hand on an oyster shell and was absolutely overwhelmed. A fellow mum handed me her bottle of Lavender oil, and I remember thinking, “Why not?”. The effect was almost immediate – he began to calm down, and I was blown away. I had to know more.
That’s when I learned about dōTERRA and decided to sign up. What started as a curiosity has now become an essential part of our family’s routine, helping us manage emotions, improve sleep, and bring a sense of calm into our daily life.
But why dōTERRA? Well, there are six key reasons I chose dōTERRA, and I’ want’m here to share them with you. From natural solutions to a supportive community and incredible business opportunities, here’s why dōTERRA has made such a difference in our lives.
1. Natural Solutions for Big Emotions
Finding natural, low-tox solutions has always been a priority for our family, especially with two boys who are autistic and ADHD. From an early age, we noticed how sensitive they were to certain products and scents. We needed a way to manage their big emotions without overwhelming their senses or exposing them to harsh chemicals.
Although we were already careful about the products we used, the turning point was when our first son was born. That delicate baby skin made me think twice about everything. I can still remember how, after my mother held him, he smelt like her perfume for hours. It made me wonder what else his skin was absorbing.
dōTERRA’s essential oils fit perfectly with our approach to a low-tox lifestyle. They gave us natural solutions to help manage big emotions in a safe and effective way. Oils like Lavender and Steady have been lifesavers in moments when emotions are running high, calming my boys without adding to their sensory load.
This is a key reason why I chose dōTERRA – because they offer effective natural solutions for emotional support.
I also discovered Petitgrain when I was looking for alternatives to Lavender. While Lavender works well for calming, my boys didn’t always appreciate smelling like “old ladies.” Petitgrain, with its fresh citrusy bite, quickly became a go-to. It’s part of our emotional toolkit, helping with everything from anxious moments to settling down after a tough day.
Recently, my 12-year-old and I started using dōTERRA’s Kids’ collection pre-diluted rollers. He’s now more comfortable with the oils and has seen how effective they are. As a result, he’s excited to try new oils and even create his own blends, which has become part of our homeschool learning plan.
2. Oil Purity You Can Trust
When it comes to using essential oils around my family – especially my boys, who are already sensitive to so many things – quality and purity are non-negotiable. I needed to be confident that what I was applying to their skin or diffusing in our home was completely safe.
That’s where dōTERRA’s Certified Pure Tested Grade (CPTG) standard really stood out to me. This rigorous testing process reassured me that every bottle of oil I used was 100% pure, free from contaminants, synthetic fillers, and toxins.
Knowing that dōTERRA’s oils go through extensive testing gave me peace of mind that I wasn’t exposing my family to anything harmful.
Why dōTERRA stands out for me is the quality and purity of every oil. It’s something I can confidently share with others, knowing they’re getting the same level of safety and care that I expect for my own family.
3. Ethical Company Values That Align with Ours
For me, it wasn’t just about finding a product that worked for our family – it was also about aligning with a company whose values matched our own. Supporting sustainability and fair trade practices is incredibly important to us.
One of the reasons I chose dōTERRA was because of their commitment to ethical sourcing. They work directly with growers around the world, ensuring that they’re paid fairly and treated with respect. By using sustainable harvesting methods, dōTERRA ensures that the communities who produce these oils can continue to thrive for generations to come.
On top of that, dōTERRA’s Healing Hands Foundation plays a major role in giving back to communities in need with initiatives such as:
When I looked into why dōTERRA, their strong ethical values made it an easy choice. It wasn’t just about the oils – it was about being part of a company that genuinely cares about people and the planet.
4. A Supportive Community
One of the things I love about dōTERRA is the strong sense of community it fosters. Although I’m still in the early stages of finding others who are on a similar journey, especially when it comes to raising neurodivergent children, I’ve already seen how dōTERRA brings people together. The community is full of people seeking natural solutions for their families, and there’s a sense of connection and shared purpose that I’m excited to be part of.
What I’m hoping to create is a space where parents dealing with emotional challenges and neurodivergence can come together, support each other, and share ideas for using natural solutions like essential oils. It’s something I’m actively working on, and I’m confident that with dōTERRA’s ethos of uplifting one another, it’s possible.
This community has also been vital to my growth in building a dōTERRA business. From mentorship to encouragement, there’s always someone ready to help me take the next step. It’s not just about selling oils – it’s about empowering each other to make a difference in our families’ lives and beyond.
Community is another key reason why dōTERRA continues to be a part of my life. While I’m still building my own connections, the overall spirit of helping each other succeed is what makes dōTERRA truly special.
In fact, you’ll often hear the expression “together we rise” in the dōTERRA community. Connecting, supporting and educating is common within teams, across teams and throughout the whole organisation – and I love that!
5. Empowering Business Opportunities
For many neurodivergent individuals, traditional employment can be challenging. This becomes even more complicated when you have neurodivergent children who require a lot of family support, whether to keep them in the school system or to homeschool, as we do. The time and energy needed to support our kids often make traditional employment – and the financial security that comes with it – difficult to achieve.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so grateful for the opportunity to build a dōTERRA business. It’s something I can shape on my own terms, in a way that works for our family and lifestyle. In fact I may have attended an Zoom training session this morning in my pjs!
For other neurodivergent families, I believe a dōTERRA business could offer the same flexibility, providing a pathway to financial security that aligns with the unique needs of their lives.
I’ve been fortunate to join a team led by two of the most caring and compassionate leaders. Their mentoring and guidance have been invaluable. I’m looking forward to emulating their mentorship with my own team, particularly as I work to create business opportunities for other neurodivergent individuals. Helping others build something meaningful, on their own terms, is a key part of why this business is so rewarding.
Why dōTERRA works as a business for me is the flexibility and the chance to create a better future. It’s not just about the financial benefits – it’s about building something meaningful that supports our family in more ways than one.
6. Transforming Our Family’s Sleep and Emotional Well-Being
Sleep has always been a challenge in our household, especially for my younger son. For the first two years of his life, he never slept longer than 1-2 hours at a time. Over the years, since his diagnoses and the introduction of essential oils, things have improved, but the Lavender Peace Stick + Valerian has been a game changer. Recently, he said something that stopped me in my tracks: “I know what a good night’s sleep is now.” And believe me, if it didn’t work he’d be the first to say so!
For the first time, he’s experiencing restful sleep, which has been transformative for both him and the whole family.
Essential oils like Lavender, Vetiver, and Calmer have made a noticeable difference in our family’s sleep routines and emotional regulation. They’re not just part of our bedtime routine – they’re tools we rely on during stressful transitions, moments of anxiety, or simply when the day feels overwhelming.
For me, as someone with ADHD, essential oils play a role in staying focused too. I love inhaling Supermint straight from the bottle when I need to remain on task, especially during hectic homeschool days. It’s a small but powerful tool in my own emotional regulation toolkit.
Why dōTERRA has become essential in our home is the real-life difference it’s made for our boys’ sleep and emotions. From improving our bedtime routines to helping us manage big emotions throughout the day, these oils have become an invaluable part of our daily lives.
Why dōTERRA Has Been the Right Choice for Us
dōTERRA has been a game changer for our family, offering natural solutions that align with our low-tox values, high-quality oils we can trust, and ethical practices that resonate with our desire to support others. The sense of community and the business opportunities have also provided us with much-needed flexibility, while helping us build something meaningful for the future. Most importantly, the oils have transformed our boys’ emotional well-being and sleep in ways I never thought possible.
