Practical Support for Neurodivergent Families

Helping parents make sense of school distress, overwhelm and the everyday things that can feel so hard when your child experiences the world differently.

Here you’ll find lived experience, practical support and a gentler way to understand what might be happening – so you can find what works for your child and your family.

What I Help With

I support neurodivergent families through the times when things stop making sense – when school is no longer working, overwhelm is building, or the usual advice simply doesn’t fit the child in front of you.

  • When School Stops Working
Understand school distress, school-can’t, hidden load and what may be making school increasingly difficult for your child.
  • Homeschooling
Practical support for considering home education, deschooling, getting started and finding a way of learning that fits your child.
  • PDA-Friendly Parenting
Connection-first, low-demand strategies that respect nervous system needs.
  • Regulation & Recovery
Understand overwhelm, sensory needs, co-regulation, burnout and what recovery can look like when capacity has been stretched too far.
  • Neurodivergent Family Life
Make sense of your child’s individual needs, navigate the everyday things that feel hard, and find approaches that work for your family.

Find Your Starting Point

You don’t need to know exactly what you need yet. Start with the place that feels closest to what your family is going through right now.

School has stopped working

School has become increasingly difficult, distressing or impossible, and you’re trying to understand what’s changed, what may be making it so hard, and what your child needs now.

Understand school refusal, school-can’t and what’s happening underneath

We’re considering homeschooling

You’re wondering whether home education might be a better fit and want to think through the decision without pressure or being pushed towards one answer.

Meet Sophie – Writer & Founder of Totally Frank

I’m Sophie – a late-diagnosed ADHD woman, married to an autistic man and mum to two neurodivergent boys. Over the years, our family has navigated school distress, anxiety, burnout, overwhelm and eventually homeschooling.

So much of what I’ve learnt has come through trial and error. We’ve tried things that worked, plenty that didn’t, changed our minds, adjusted our expectations and slowly learnt to pay more attention to what our children were showing us.

Totally Frank grew from those experiences. I share what we’ve learnt, alongside research and practical support, to help other parents make sense of what their child may be experiencing and find what works for their family.
